organizations worldwide. Action needed to counter plans of climate zealots that would raise energy prices and lower energy supplies, devastating low-income families and crippling the economy. Cap-and-Trade schemes, carbon taxes, and bans on fossil fuels a recipe for disaster. Mass protests, legal action, exposing "energy killers" essential for survival. Look at Energy Reality - the non-existent "alternatives" that a finger-snap can't create New York City, March 4, 2008 During the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change hosted by the Heartland Institute, pro-energy activists gathered privately to plan survival strategy while scientists convened panels poking holes in climate alarmist theories. The sense of urgency among the activists surged with news from the environmental movement as well as from politicians that they're ready to outlaw or physically destroy fossil fuel producers - despite the fact that 85% of all America's energy comes from coal, oil and gas. Word had leaked out that major environmental groups including Greenpeace and the Natural Resources Defense Council, were preparing a lawsuit against the Bush administration to list the polar bear as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, using the unprecedented justification of global warming - claiming that melting Arctic icecaps would harm the bear's habitat. The public is not aware that such a listing would not only do nothing for polar bears, but would certainly be used by green groups in lawsuits to shut down any business that emits CO2 - and that's almost all businesses - anywhere in the United States, no matter how far from Alaska and its polar bears, even in Hawaii and Florida and all states in between. Speakers at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change also warned against the Lieberman-Warner bill (America's Climate Security Act - S2191.), which would cost hundreds of billions to stop CO2 emissions through cap-and-trade schemes. These outrageous new bureaucracies would cause price increases that the Congressional Budget Office has said "would disproportionately affect people at the lower end of the income scale.” The bill as written would weaken the already stressed American economy. Main facts: It raises energy prices. It lowers energy supply. Wrong direction on both counts. That drew a sharp rebuke from one of the climate conference speakers, Roy Innis, national chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, who said,
ATTACKING AMERICA'S ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE As might be expected, environmental radicals and some mainstream groups are releasing information that appears to be in preparation for mass protests, unlawful destruction, energy vandalism, and outright eco-terrorism. The line between animal rights extremism,
earth liberation, eco-anarchy and other enviro-extremist campaigns has always
been an indistinct one. But now, radical direct action campaigns are beginning
to operate under the banner of combating climate change. Radical green groups have announced upcoming protests, convergences, and direct actions. where to find targets including pipelines and oil refineries. A NEW COURSE FOR THE CENTER With this many Energy Killers preparing to destroy America's fossil fuel industry, the Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise had no choice but to propose a survival plan and an alliance to make it powerful: The Energy Keepers Network. CDFE Executive Vice President Ron Arnold
first proposed such an alliance in his 2007 book, Freezing in the Dark:
Money, Power, Politics and The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy. "We need some
Energy Keepers to counterbalance all the Energy Killers," he wrote. CDFE will have a new look. It will have new powers. It will have new programs. It will have new allies. The Energy Keepers Network will prepare the social and political groundwork for a nation of Energy Keepers. The Network will track votes in Congress, pressing members to vote the right way, praising those who champion abundant energy, exposing those who don’t, and drafting bills that stop government grants to non-profit groups that lobby Congress. The Network will find its own public interest law firms to challenge anti-fossil fuel strategies, working for a justice system that can rein in arrogant Energy Killers. The Network will find public interest lobbying groups forming, changing the rules so Congress must evaluate each bill for its national energy impact – more energy for the nation or less, higher prices or lower – just as the Congressional Budget Office does now with administrative costs. The Network will bring informed citizens together to fight the Energy Killers, to use the Internet, to teach the Energy Reality chart and the Energy Gap, to write letters to the editor, to blog, to demand action by attorneys general, to use any means necessary to secure an energy future with real energy in it. The Network will honor the life's work of Mr. Roy Innis, national chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, by using his book Energy Keepers Energy Killers: The New Civil Rights Battle as its guide and inspiration. The Network will train determined pro-energy activists to go places by the busload using peaceful protest, pressuring the Energy Killers to change their ways, taking the battle to them on their own turf, in conferences, in public meetings, in community councils, on college campuses, in legislative halls and congressional hearings. The Network will help a few brave souls to confront the Energy Killers directly, demanding they sign a pledge to refrain from any action that lowers America’s energy production or raises energy prices – and holding them accountable through major media buys. The Network will strive to cancel the power of the Energy Killers, to make them fade as more Americans become Energy Keepers and demand their economic civil rights, their energy civil rights.
