Texas Gov. Rick Perry petitioned the EPA in April to cut their corn ethanol production for summer gasoline additives by 50% because the diversion of food to fuel is raising food prices and starving our livestock. When Perry requested the waiver, corn was $5 a bushel. When the EPA rejected his petition 3 months later, it was more than $7 a bushel and climbing. Time to shut down corn ethanol plants permanently.
